Over the weekend, The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR) was one of several organizations including Kauai Fire Department, Search and Rescue, and UH Sea Grant to take part in an event this weekend, which  provided  the North Shore community with information about current services and efforts related to disaster preparedness. The event was hosted at Hale  Halawai ‘Ohana O Hanalei.

Katie Nalesere, DAR Education Specialist, participated with a display that focused on fishing regulations, materials for keiki, marine resource information, as well as Eyes of the Reef (EOR) topics including general coral biology, and coral disease updates. This was a great venue to share general coral disease information, current research efforts in regards to the coral disease, updated findings, and details where people can go to get more information.  This detailed information will be soon be shared on the EOR website – stay tuned!
